'Tile making and decorating' 4 weeks course
Sat mornings / 9th Feb -2nd March 10.30-1pm
This course runs on weekly bases for 4 consecutive Sat mornings (10.30-1pm) starting on 9th Feb 2019.
The course suits both beginners and intermediate level students.
We will be working with slabs of clay to make tiles, either functional wall tiles for decorating splash-backs, textural tiles that make beautiful wall art pieces, house signs and plaques and finally flat cheeseboards and serving platters.
We will learn and implement many decorating techniques.
You will be encouraged come up with your own project you wish to complete. You may want to look through some magazines, pinterest to get ideas of shapes and patterns you'd like to achieve to discuss with the teacher.
Throughout the course we will present you with techniques of working with clay, explain what to look out for and what to avoid; we will also provide design guidance and support, keeping a watchful eye on the progress of your work. We will be there for you but at the same time we'll give you freedom to create and express yourself.
This 4 week course can be taken as a one-off clay adventure or as part of the continuous pottery skill building approach.
At the end of the course you will have a number of pieces made and they will then be fired and glazed in our workshop, ready for collection few weeks later.
