High Mountains - Ceramic Plate
Regular price €98.00
Stoneware plates are made by transfering my illustrations from paper onto clay. I use my favourite paper resist/stencil method to layer up coloured slips.
The base for the illustration is in a shape of a plate with softly raised walls. It is made of recycled clay we collect when finishing other pieces. It is a mix of two speckled stoneware clays with an addition of blue and grey stained stoneware used in making tweet and bee bowls; the back of the piece is left unglazed and textured. You can see the clay mix in front of the plate, it creates beautiful light and full of movement sky background for an illustration of a still and rigid mountain range. Painted with porcelain coloured slips and glazed.
Clay hook at the back of the plate for hanging; if the plate is to be used for food, the hook will not be in the way. .
This plate was made in 2 copies.
