Karolina Grudniewska aka Karo is a self-taught ceramicist, the designer and the maker of karoArt ceramics.
Polish born, she arrived in Ireland in 2004. Her path to discovering ceramics was long and winding; it took many career turns and finishing two degrees before she discovered clay in 2011.
Karo always had an urge to do creative things but could not find the right medium to let the creativity flow. It was Jacek, Karo's partner, who offered her this amazing gift that keeps on giving and gave Karo two bags of raw clay as a Christmas gift!

Now Karo designs contemporary pieces that are playful, whimsical and boldly colourful. There is often a story behind the making of a piece, a witty name or a double meaning that adds a personal touch and makes karoArt ceramics that little bit more special.
Karo likes to give her hand decorated objects of art a functional quality.
' I like the idea of enjoying special, lovely things in everyday life'
The inspiration for karoArt comes from natural wonders, fairy tales and random beautiful inspiring sights.
All pieces are handmade, and although the styles and patterns may be repeated, each object has that perfectly imperfect handmade quality.
In April 2014, Leeloo, sparkling white border collie joined the forces. She's now a full time employee and studio supervisor that takes care of the morale of karoArt, supervises cleanliness of the floor, guards the workshop and meets visitors.
