Surface Decoration Course - weekend
Please, read our covid-safety policy page prior to booking classes.
We have one date available for a very exciting and informative surface decoration course.
|24th and 25th Oct||Sat 2.30-6pm||Sun 10.30-3pm
The course suits all levels but is extremely beneficial for those who wish to join our 6 week courses.
On day 1, Saturday afternoon, students will start by making flat pieces of work, be it platters, cheese boards, tiles and plates that will then serve as canvases for in-depth surface decoration course using coloured slips. Karo will demonstrate decoration techniques and students can make a test piece.
The second day, Sunday, will focus on decorating the pieces made on Saturday. You will be asked to come with an image to transfer onto you piece or an idea of your design and we'll start decorating!
The techniques we'll cover during the workshop are:
-painting with slips using resists
-sgraffitto and infill
-stamping, adding textures
Students are encouraged to come prepared with images or sketches of work they like and would like to use as an inspiration. This saves precious making time. You may want to look through some magazines, Pinterest to get ideas of shapes and patterns you'd like to achieve to discuss with the teacher.
This 2-day workshop can be taken as a one-off clay adventure or as part of the continuous pottery skill building approach.
At the end of the course, the pieces you make, will stay with us to dry. They will be fired and glazed in our studio, ready for collection few weeks later.
