Large plate made of beige stoneware with beautiful speckle, handpainted and sketched on individully, there are no two plates alike.
The making of it is a 3-4 week process. First a large slab of stoneware clay was rolled out and placed into a mould, it was then meticulously smoothed and trimmed, coloured with a layer of green slip and left on a shelf to dry for over a week. It was then placed in the kiln for the first 40hrs firing cycle. After that the plant was sketched on, the plate was glazed and fired again to temperature of over 1200C.
Thus hardened, the plate is fully functional sturdy piece of pottery. It is meant be enjoyed daily and can be used for food and cleaned in a dishwasher. You may also like to pop it up on the wall (small hook at the back fitted) to simply please your eye..
