These three unique platters are made of marbled clay to create a dramatic background effect in clay body, showing both at the back and front of each piece. A punchy dot of a sun is painted on each one of these (3 colours to choose from) and accentuated with dynamic sketchy outlines in black.

The marbled clay is created from recycled slip stained offcuts, produced while making plates and cups. The effect of blending it into slabs is a surprising and exciting technique as the true colours only show after the pieces have been fired. 

Each plate measures 30.5 cm in diameter, it's big enough to make a statement.  High fired porcelain clay makes them suitable for daily use and they can be washed in the dishwasher without colours fading. In case you'd like them up on the wall, they have a hanging loop on the back that is not in the way of functional use either.
