6 WEEK COURSES in hand-building and decorating

Tuesday Evenings 18th February - 25th March, 6.30-9pm

This course runs on a weekly basis for six consecutive weeks.

The course suits both beginners and intermediate level students.

We will be working with two hand-building techniques (slab-building and coiling) and we will show you a variety of surface decoration techniques using coloured slips.

During the first two classes we will take time to present techniques and let you practice in a structured way; please make sure you arrive on time, especially to these two first classes.

After that, you will have 4 weeks to explore your own ideas. You will be encouraged to come up with your own projects and we will provide you with help, advice and as much guidance or freedom in making as you require. You may want to look through some magazines, pinterest etc. to get ideas of shapes and patterns you'd like to achieve to discuss with the teacher.

Throughout the course, you will be presented you with techniques of working with clay, learn the basics about the material and the process, and be advised on what to look out for and what to avoid.

This 6-week course can be taken as a one-off clay adventure or as part of the continuous pottery skill-building approach.

At the end of the course, you will have a number of pieces made; all of them will then be fired and glazed in our workshop, ready for collection a few weeks later.

CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED TO 7 STUDENTS.

THIS COURSE IS SUITABLE FOR STUDENTS AGED 15 AND ABOVE.

ON THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE all YOUR WORK WILL BE FIRED AND READY FOR COLLECTION OR SHIPPING (AT ADDITIONAL CHARGE) IN APPROX 4 WEEKS AFTER THE COURSE ENDS.

WE PROVIDE ALL TOOLS, MATERIALS AND TEACHING, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN APRONS

THERE ARE SOME FREE ON STREET PARKING SPACES AVAILABLE OUTSIDE THE STUDIO, AND PAID ONES FURTHER AWAY. THERE"S PLENTY OF BUSSES SERVING THE DOLPHINS BARN / THE COOMBE AREA, AND RED LUAS LINE IS 7MINS WALK AWAY FROM THE STUDIO.
